Wrong season, right reason

Like the many cycles of life, I tend to go through periods of time that I binge watch Korean dramas. For those of you not familiar with the Hallyu wave, k-dramas are like watching daytime soaps in short bursts. A k-drama has a set schedule of episodes, with the average I would guess at like 16-18, and then the show stops. A Season 2 is rare, mostly with the exception of shows dedicated to an English-speaking audience, such as Netflix.

I bought myself a new television recently. After marvelling how old I am, i.e. it used to cost me $1,000 like 20 years ago to buy a huge box television and now it only costs like $200, I chose a 43” 2026 Toshiba model. I bought it specifically for the reason that I want to watch shows on Viki.

Viki is a streaming app, much like Netflix, for Asian television shows. It’s also super cheap. I pay like $6 a month for it, and I am grandfathered into that price since I have never stopped my sub since the day I found this website.

The app is kinda funky, and by funky, I mean it’s crap. Of course, it’s only $6 a month, so there is that. But what’s wrong with wanting my price and watching it on the television too? Yeah, Viki only works on newer model televisions.

At any rate, I decided to go back to recapping several Korean dramas.

Happenings

This entire intro was a not-so-sneaky way of introducing my next recapped show, Spooky in Love. Here’s my episode guide. I’ve only made it to Episode 2 so far. For those of you who do not recap tv shows, it’s a pain in the rear end. You start, stop, start, stop, rewind, start, stop … etc. One show takes like 3 hours to write.

My husband refuses to watch television with me anymore.

I might add this show is airing on Netflix.

So is every other show on the list I made. Every single one. I sat down, picked out the dramas I wanted to recap, felt extremely organized about myself, and not one of them is on the app I bought a television to watch.

I now have to rewrite the entire list to include Viki shows to justify the purchase.
